Here are the big announcements from Apple's "Time Flies" event.

The Apple Watch series 6

As usual, Apple has announced a bunch of new products and services during its September event which this year was completely virtual, due to the pandemic. Despite not having announced the new iPhones (which have been delayed this year because of COVID-19) we still have several new products to talk about so let's see what was announced.

Apple Watch

This year Apple has announced 2 new Apple Watches, the first of which is the Apple Watch Series 6 starting at $399.

The newest flagship Apple Watch comes with several improvements over the Series 5:

  • The new health sensor in the watch that allows you to monitor your blood oxygen levels through the Blood Oxygen app, which can take a reading within 15 seconds with the ability to take background readings.

  • The always-on display should be 2.5x brighter than the previous generation, which can be useful in different lighting conditions.

  • The new processor is up to 20% faster than last year's model.

The second Apple Watch to be announced is the Apple Watch SE.

With the same design as the Apple Watch Series 6 and several of its predecessors, the Apple Watch SE comes with a more basic set of health and fitness tools and a considerably lower price starting at $279.

Here are some of its features:

  • Like all Apple Watches, it will offer workout tracking and all-day activity monitoring with dozens of workout tracking options to choose from.

  • It has Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Altimeter, and Fall Detection.

  • Apple's new noise app, sleep tracking and automatic handwashing detection.

What differentiates this watch from its flagship alternative, is the lack of Blood Oxygen app, ECG app, U1 chip and its slower processor but still looks to be a great product.

Alongside these Watches, Apple is releasing a new workout subscription call Fitness+, which offers very varied workout videos for everyone to choose from available to do on any of your Apple devices for $9.99/month or $79.99/ year.

iPads

In addition to the Apple Watches, 2 new iPads have been announced, first is the iPad 8th generation.

Aimed as the ultimate note-taking tool "on a budget", the iPad 8th gen comes with an A12 Bionic chip, 10.2-inch retina display, and is compatible with the Apple Pencil 1st gen and smart keyboard making it a very good device for education and light work.

Coming in at $329 it's Apple's cheapest iPad and will be available for $299 if it is bought for education.

Next is Apple's 2nd announcement, the iPad Air 4th generation.

Taking after the design of the iPad Pro lineup, the iPad Air 4th gen boasts several improvements over its predecessor.

  • With its brand new A14 Bionic chip, it's supposed to have 40% faster CPU performance and 30% faster graphics.

  • Thanks to its smaller bezels it now has a 10.9-inch Liquid Retina Display vs 10.2 on the iPad Air 3.

  • Unlike the iPad Pro, there is no Face ID however Touch ID has been integrated into the power button.

  • The new iPad now has USB C, a feature that was originally only on the Pro lineup and also has a 12MP Wide camera compared to 8MP on the iPad Air 3.

  • It's now compatible with the Apple Pencil 2nd generation and the Magic Keyboard or Smart Keyboard folio.

Other features include WiFi 6, faster LTE and more.

Apple One

And finally, Apple's last big announcement is their new subscription bundle: Apple One, allowing you to combine several subscriptions like iCloud, News, Music and Apple TV+, Arcade and Fitness +. Here are the bundles to choose from:
